BBMP Election Postponed – New Date yet to announce

The news is out BBMP election has been postponed and new Dates are yet to be announced.  This may take sometime after the reservation process and many other hurdles to be cleared.

What does this mean?

The election date of Feb 21 is now not a BBMP election date.  The election will now be held somewhere around Nov 2010 due to the school examination, monsoon season, panchayat election coming and teachers play an important role during these election as staffers.

The State Election Commission has written a note to the SC stating that they need at least 2 months of time to study the reservation process for each ward and redo the list.

In this regards, BBMP chief Bharat Lal Meena has sent a letter to the CM, that he is not interested in the job anymore.

We will need to wait for week time for the official announcement and the reason for the postpone of the election, which was going to be held after 3 years in Bangalore.

How did it evolve?

July 21, 2009 – Urban development Department issue reservation guidelines

October 1, 2009 – High Court Stays guidelines
