BBMP is getting ready for the election for this year 2010. It is exactly after 3 years that
BBMP will go on for Election. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike will have new Mayor on Feb 25, 2010.
There has been a lot of talks and discussion going on between the Courts and BBMP related to date and also the Ward Delimitation in order to get the increase count of Wards number. In 2004-05 BBMP had only 147 wards and now the wards have been increased to 198.
Bangalore is divided into 8 zone and 198 wards this election. The election will be held on Feb 21st 2010. The details of 8 Zone for BBMP are:
- Yelanhanka
- Mahadevapura
- Dasarahalli
- Rajarajeshwarinagar
- West Bangalore
- East Bangalore
- South Bangalore
- Bommanhalli
Each zone comprise has its a list of areas comprises for this election and many new areas been added with some areas moved to different zone.
The election schedule for the BBMP is:
1) Jan 15 - Feb 25, 2010 : Election code of Conduct will come into effect
2) Feb 8, 2010 : Last date for candidate to file nominations
3) Feb 9, 2010 : Scrutiny of nominations
4) Feb 11. 2010 : Last draw to withdraw nominations
Election Date:
5) Feb 21, 2010 : Polling will start from between 7:00 am – 5pm
Counting and Results for BBMP:
6) Feb 24, 2010 – Counting and results from 8:00 am onwards
Election Ends on Feb 25, 2010 with a new Mayor and respective area /ward/localities Corporators.
