LalBagh Flower Show - Bangalore

1208-LalBagh-Garden-Bangalore Lalbagh Flower show is back this republic day.  This is one event which has twice every year on 26th Jan and 15th Aug.

Lalbagh flower show is a display of varieties of flowers from all over the country and world.  They many new varieties of flowers displayed on the show which are very species and available for certain period.

About LalBagh Botanical Garden:1206-LalBagh-Glass-House

Lal Bagh Botanical Garden is one of best Botanical Garden in the Bangalore city. The garden lies in the heart of the city and also called as LalBagh.  The garden was built by Hyder Ali and the major attraction of the Garden is it Glass house, Aquarium and a tree which is about 300 years old.

Lalbagh has unique collection of flowers and different kinds of trees with about 1800+Tree varities of flower plants and many other on display.  These range from mherstia nobilis, Araucaria sp., Averrhoa bilimbi, Bambusa sp., Bixa orellana, Brownea grandiceps, Castanospermum australe, Cola acuminata, Corypha umbraculifera, Couroupita guianensis, Cupressus sp., Eriobotrya japonica, Magnolia sp., Swietenia mahagoni etc.

Indigeneous species such as Artocarpus heterophyllus, Bombax ceiba, Butea monosperma, Cassia fistula , Dillenia indica, Ficus sp., Lagerstromia speciosa, Michelia champaca, Mesua ferrea etc., can be seen.

LalBagh Attractions:

KG There are many infrastructure construction present in Lalbagh Botanical Garden.  However, the most famous is and must see the See through Glass house which hold all the major events in LalBagh Garden.

Other attractions are: Bandstand, Lecture Hall,  Lalbagh House, Statue of Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar, the Directorate Building, Lalbagh West Gate Guard Room, the Museum,

The newly added are Deer Paddock, Aquarium building, Aviary and oldest monument of Bangalore city which depicts the history is Kempegowda Tower. Lalbagh lake is an important attraction with a tree which is about 300 years old.

Information about LalBagh Bangalore:

  • LalBagh is open from early morning 6:00 am to evening 8:30 pm with close time in the afternoon of 2 hours in the afternoon.
  • Anyone can visit Lalbagh at point of the year.  There are many morning walkers coming to park for fresher and for which they need pay nominal charge.  At other times, a fee of Rs.10/- is charged. Entry for school children and the disabled is free all day.
  • Lalbagh Flower show is organzied twice a year during the Republic Day and Independence day of India
  • A major tourist attraction in Bangalore city.

How to reach LalBagh Bangalore:

  • Lalbagh is well connected from all parts of Bangalore city, be it local transport or city based transport.
  • Just 4-5 kms from Vidhana Soudha, and 5 kms from BMTC Bus stop, 3 kms from Jayanagar.
  • LalBagh has a four entrance, with the vehicles to be allowed from East  Gate only.
